Graham Howell
Graham holds a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from UBC where he studied with David Branter, and has taught saxophone, flute, clarinet and music theory for over twenty five years. Further studies have included summer master classes with classical saxophone virtuoso Jean-Marie Londiex in Nice, France; woodwind courses at the Armed Forces School of Music in Victoria; basic military training with the Band of the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa; Jazz improvisation with Stan Karp; and Jazz arranging with Fred Stride.
Touring extensively across Canada and the western United States has kept Graham busy performing with such bands as Skaboom, Stigmata, Jazz-Beat poet Ralph, the Powder Blues, and Canadian Pop legend Lee Aaron. Graham can be also be heard on numerous CD recordings, CBC broadcasts, and even music videos on Bravo!, CMT, and MuchMoreMusic. Currently, Graham occupies the first Tenor Sax/Clarinet chair with the Alex Browne Aristocrats of Swing Orchestra in addition to playing in many small Jazz combos featuring his wife, vocalist Melissa Howell.
