Jon Roper

Jon Roper was born in Vancouver and has been teaching guitar since 1993. He has a diploma from VCC and has studied performance, theory and composition at Simon Fraser University and Capilano University. Over the past decade Jon has toured Canada, the United States, Australia, The United Kingdom and Japan with various projects.

He works with a varied and talented collection of groups and artists including Ribcage Trio, Alan Matheson, Alita Dupray, Robert Wilson, Spygirl, Love Seat Deluxe, Carmelo Miliano and a long list of local jazz and rock musicians.

Jon performs regularly with his own jazz trio and is also currently recording an album with an original rock band called Friction Project.

Jon's playing and writing experience covers a vast array of styles and influences, his teaching technique focuses on the individual needs of each student
