Allan Dionne

Allan's first exposure to music was in the form of accordion lessons, which he took for seven years in his hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan. After moving to Vancouver, he attended the University of British Columbia where he graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion. Since then he has played many styles of music, including jazz, blues, Latin, Celtic and prog rock, and has performed in ensembles ranging from a South African Big Band to symphony orchestras. Allan joined the Celtic band Mad Pudding in 1997, with whom he has toured extensively. As a member of this group he has played at festivals worldwide, including Canada, the US, Denmark and Britain, and has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. In 2009, Allan performed with Ashley MacIsaac at the Vogue Theatre as part of the Vancouver Celtic Festival.
Allan is currently a member of both The Shona Le Mottee Band and Francophone group Pastiche, with whom he plays accordion, and he performs regularly in and around Vancouver with these and other groups. In addition to recordings done with Mad Pudding, Shona Le Mottee and Pastiche, Allan can be heard on a number of other CDs playing drum set, mallet instruments, and accordion. He has also performed with the Prince George Symphony and Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestras. Allan is also an instructor at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and has been teaching and performing in the Vancouver area since 1995.
