Judy Chee
Judy Chee started playing the piano at the age of 6 and loved it from the start! She has over 20 years of performing experience having played in festivals, recitals, gigs and open mics. She has received her ARCT performance diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music as well as a diploma in Jazz/ Contemporary studies at Vancouver Community College. She has studied with teachers like: Sharon Minemoto, Mark Kosacz, Michael Hurst, and Mary Ann Hsu.
When Judy is not teaching or playing music, she freelances as a photographer specializing in portraits, music and travel photos (www.judychee.com). She has travelled around the world and lived in Scotland for 2 years from 2008 to 2010. From this amazing and eye-opening life experience, she has had the pleasures of witnessing and hearing a variety of traditional music from the pipers of Scotland and fiddlers in Ireland to the sitar and tabla sounds in India and Gamelan music in Bali.
Judy loves teaching piano because it enables her to share her knowledge and great appreciation for music and with that, she hopes to inspire her students to discover their abilities to creatively express themselves to their full musical potential.
