Brad Stark

A classically trained pianist and composer, Brad Stark studied piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He also studied piano with a major in music composition at the University of Toronto, graduating in 2003. Following these studies, in 2005 he completed his master's degree in music composition at the University of Western Ontario where he also taught keyboard harmony to first and second year undergraduate students. In addition, Brad has taught musicianship classes in sight singing, ear training, and music theory at the University of British Columbia. Brad has been teaching piano lessons and music theory at Prussin music since 2008.
Understanding the needs of both older and younger students at any level of their musical development, Brad takes an individual approach in his lessons that focuses on the interests and needs of each individual student. In particular, students are guided to improve their sight-reading, playing technique, rhythm, musicality, and approaches to practice.
Having a strong background and training in music theory as a composer, Brad is able to offer lessons in music theory and can help music students prepare for RCM theory exams of all levels.
Composing music since the age of 11, Brad has had his music performed in Canada, France, and the United States in concerts and new music festivals. His orchestral music has been played by the Vancouver and Victoria symphony orchestras in open reading sessions. As well, Brad has composed music for video games and has released a music soundtrack on iTunes. In 2009, Brad assisted Vancouver composer Alain Mayrand as an orchestrator and music copyist for The Legend of Silkboy, a full length animated film featuring Jackie Chan and an 80 minute orchestral soundtrack.
