Deborah Jackson
Deborah Jackson began studying recorder and viola at a young age at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Since then, her musical voyaging has led her along many paths.
Deborah received her Bachelor of Music at McGill University (recorder and baroque viola) and studied recorder with Marion Verbruggen at the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands. She has performed on recorder with such ensembles as the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, the Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, the Toronto Consort and the Toronto Chamber Society. She was a coach for the Baroque Ensemble Programme at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Deborah then became enamoured with traditional Irish and Québecois music and developed her skills at sessions and through performing with many celtic groups on fiddle and low D whistle in Toronto, Montreal, England and Vancouver.
Deborah has thirty years of experience teaching private music lessons and she currently teaches violin, fiddle, viola, whistle and recorder. She is also the Administrator and Publicist of the Rogue Folk Club and mother of two boys.
Deborah’s hope is to impart her love of music-making to her students and to adapt each class to their individual needs based on her vast teaching experience.
