Anita Lee
Anita began her violin study in Taiwan when she was five and she has played in several orchestras. She moved to Vancouver in 2006 and began studying violin with Oscar Liu. In 2007, she won first prize at the Richmond Music Festival competition. In the same year, Anita performed in a violin recital at the Shadbolt Centre for Arts in Burnaby. In August 2011, she was selected to be one of the ten participants of L'Academie Internationale de Musique Maurice Ravel to study under Olivier Charlier in France.
She is currently studying at University of British Columbia with Professor David Gillham, pursuing a double major in violin performance and linguistics. She had studied violin with Jasper Wood, Charles Castleman and chamber music with David Harding, Eugenia Choi, Eric Wilson and Borealis String Quartet. Aside from performing, she is also taking education courses, and she hopes to pursue a future in teaching and performing.
Anita has several years of experience teaching privately and had worked with the Vancouver School Board String Program as an observer. She enjoys teaching children of all ages. She believes that music is an important aspect of a child's early development. She aspires to share the fun of music making with her students, and to inspire them in their musical pursuits.
